Is That A Person? Lyrics

Much like a hypothesizing psychiatrist, Is that a Person? attempts to explore the schizophrenic mind, in particular, a woman named Bernice Hemisphere. Ms. Hemisphere's perpetual delusion of there being swarms of disease transmitting flies within her one room Oklahoma apartment drove her to believe that each fly represented a person from the "outside world" that wanted her to either A) get a job/pay taxes, B)empty her overflowing mailbox of junk mail, or C) mingle with her peers to fully experience the joys and pains of life. Though she lived off food stamps, had no family, and only left the house for bulk American cheese and tartar sauce, Bernice was perfectly content with her fluctuations between sleep and consciousness. She had three imaginary friends (two of which she didn't speak to) that always showed up for her weekly underwater tea parties in the bathtub. She also loved sitting on her chair to pass the time. Tragically, Bernice's fantastic voyage ended in 2007 after attempting to head-butt a fictional fly that had landed on the corner of her coffee table. Her imaginary friends bled from her head and were unable to pretend to help.
